Hope everyone is safe and not floating away in the water! The courts are in pretty bad shape. Unfortunately we need to hang tight before the clean up process can start. Although the water has gone down the levels are expected to rise back up by Saturday. We don’t want to have to clean up twice. I will post more info for clean up as it becomes available to me. The Barons are headed to chocolate town for state doubles! Drew and Colin took the first set against the number one seeded team, Andrew and Alec Grossman of Cumberland Valley 6-3 and but lost the next set 4-6. They got down 2-5 in the third and battled back to 3-5 before fending off 5 match points and having 3 break point opportunities losing the final set 3-6. (6-3, 4-6, 3-6)
After a long tough match Drew and Colin took on Gettysburg for the last spot in the state doubles tournament. The barons pulled out a long third set victory winning 8-6 in the tie-break! (7-6 (1), 4-6, 7-6 (6).
The PIAA State Doubles Tournament will be held Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th at Hershey Racquet Club.
Drew and Colin Wolgemuth won their first round 6-1, 6-3 against Dallastown then beat Conestoga Valley 6-3, 6-2 to earn a spot in District Doubles Semi-Finals! They play tomorrow, 1pm at Hershey Racquet Club.
The Barons boys tennis team fell just short against Hempfield in the LL League Team Semi Finals losing the close contest 2-3.
