Superintendent Entry Plan, Dr. Clark

January 29, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

I am increasingly aware of how much I have to learn about the Manheim Central School District. Since my appointment in November as your new Superintendent of Schools, I have devoted some time to planning a series of activities to help me to develop an understanding of the programs, people, and priorities in Manheim. I believe such a procedure is especially important for me to begin to understand the operations of the school district within the community. In the months ahead, I will be asking your assistance as a school board, staff, community and students in assisting me to get through this important learning process.

I will be conducting a series of interviews with the following groups: school board, leadership team, teachers, community members and students.

There will be three key elements in the entry plan by interviewing these groups:

  1. Interviews and Feedback Sessions:
    1. To conduct structured interviews with Board members, leadership team, building principals, leaders of employment organizations, and selected community leaders whose positions influence the schools.
    2. To hold formal feedback sessions with each group to verify the accuracy of the information gathered.
  2. Visits to Schools and Organizations:
    1. To make regular school visits, including two half-day intensive visits to each school planned by the building principal.
    2. To attend meetings of a variety of school-related and community organizations.
  3. Reporting and Follow-Through:
    1. To prepare and disseminate a comprehensive report on the specific issues identified during the entry activities.
    2. To develop goals and plans to address areas of significant concerns.

The goal is to conduct these interviews and feedback sessions over the next couple of months and begin to develop a plan that will be reviewed hopefully by the end of the school year to begin to be implemented looking at the goals and objectives of the entry plan for the start of the 2010-2011 school year. Information about this particular process will be provided in updates on the Superintendent’s blogs. If you are interested in participating in this process please contact the District Office and ask for the Superintendent’s secretary, Jennifer Davidson, to set up an appointment potentially for an interview.
